SWISSRAIL presents record-breaking project for climate-friendly mobility and reveals the most beautiful railroad line in the world
On March 9, it starts again. The InnoTrans Podcast solidifies its standing as an international mobility podcast with a true world champion of the rail industry. The guest this time is Michaela Stöckli, Director of the Swiss Railway Industry Association SWISSRAIL. With over one hundred members, SWISSRAIL is an important driving force for the further development of transport policy in the Alpine nation.
Switzerland leads the world in rail infrastructure ahead of Japan
But it is not only in the Alps that the Swiss railroad industry sets the tone. With SWISSRAIL, the InnoTrans Podcast is drawing on concentrated expertise from the world's most advanced rail industry for its second episode. According to a data survey by the World Economic Forum, Switzerland has the best rail infrastructure in the world, closely followed by Japan. In the podcast, Michaela Stöckli talks about the latest successful project of the Swiss rail industry and its importance for Europe. The prestigious Ceneri Tunnel project was completed in September 2020 and, as an important section of the transalpine NEAT line, offers numerous opportunities for optimizing freight and passenger traffic.
"With the opening of the Ceneri Tunnel, Switzerland's largest rail project was opened and handed over to operation in September 2020 after more than 20 years of construction and costs of around CHF 23 billion - the NRLA. The new transalpine route through Europe, with the core of the flat railroad in Switzerland, was once intended to make freight transport from Rotterdam to Genoa more efficient and, above all, more climate-friendly. The concentrated expertise of the Swiss rail industry, which has made this work of the century possible, can hardly wait to present its products and services at InnoTrans 2022," says Michaela Stöckli Director SWISSRAIL.
Berlin exhibition center with new hall for InnoTrans
But it is not only the Swiss who can rejoice at the completion of a prestigious project - Messe Berlin is also pleased to present one of the world's most modern exhibition halls, hub27, to the InnoTrans community at InnoTrans 2022.
Michaela Stöckli will then reveal what to expect from Swiss companies at InnoTrans and where she currently sees the greatest potential in the industry. In addition to these exciting mobility insights, there is another absolute highlight. Michaela Stöckli reveals where probably the most beautiful railroad line in the world is located and this much can be revealed - in Switzerland, of course.
