90 seconds to get the job of one’s dreams

Fayad Samad was still doing his Master’s degree in Rail Vehicle Technology at RHTW Aachen when he registered for the Eurailpress Career Boost. A few weeks after his appearance at InnoTrans 2022 he received an invitation from Alstom to be interviewed for a placement. He finished his placement in March 2023 and since April has been working for Alstom as a systems engineer. “A platform that allowed me to present my qualifications to an audience looking for new employees – that seemed too good to be true“, wrote Fayad Samad on his LinkedIn account.

Successful launch

In 2022 the Eurailpress Career Boost took place for the first time at the InnoTrans Campus. Five candidates each representing five categories (technical careers, engineers, IT experts, operational and commercial careers) were given the chance to hold an elevator pitch introducing themselves for 90 seconds on the Talent Stage. 17 participants seized the opportunity. Besides Fayad Samad they included Rajeev Ravikumar, who after the Career Boost found a job with Alstom Transportation Germany GmbH where he could do his Master’s degree. For Jakub Szajek, making the trip from Vienna was worthwhile too. “Thanks to this event I was given a job with Plasser & Theurer in Vienna“, he said.

Jakub Szajek is currently working as a student employee at the Technology Centre in Purkersdorf, and is responsible for research and data processing as well as proofreading project reports for formulation and content, plus academic and administrative tasks. “I am looking forward to a fantastic job in a field that really fascinates me, for which I would like to warmly thank the team who organised the Career Boost”, he said.

Follow-up planned for 2024

Bringing companies into contact with skilled workers is becoming increasingly important. That was the reason for establishing the InnoTrans Campus, which concentrates everything the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology has to offer concerning careers and young professionals in a single hall and at various career points. “The fact that specific information points and events had been organised made visiting InnoTrans much easier for me“, said Fayad Samad. The Eurailpress Career Boost takes this one step further by giving companies and young professionals individual opportunities to network with each other. “That way, both sides can quickly get a personal impression of each other“, said Kerstin Schulz, director of InnoTrans.

“The entire format was also a great experience for us, and we would be delighted to continue the partnership in 2024 in Berlin“, said Daniela Hennig, event manager at DVV Media Group, the brand to which Eurailpress is affiliated. Fayad Samad would also like the event to take place again: “The Career Boost is a great platform and I hope that in future years it will continue to be a part of InnoTrans“, he said.
