In collaboration with the University of Pavia and OEKO-TEX-certified chemical partners, Testori Textiles has developed an innovative treatment platform for its latest textile collection in the railway sector. The material, made from natural plant fibres from Italy, is sustainable and safe.

Testori Finishing Technology makes it possible to transform natural fibres such as cotton, linen and hemp into technical materials that meet the requirements of the EN 45545-2 HL3 standard for highly safe railway applications.

These new plant-based solutions offer a concrete alternative to conventional synthetic and aramid blended fabrics. They guarantee a low heat release (R1, R21, R18) and permanent flame resistance - without the use of halogenated additives. In addition to their technical performance, the fabrics offer a warm and natural aesthetic that is suitable for an on-board environment in line with biophilic (nature-loving) design trends and improved acoustic and tactile comfort.

Thanks to the vertical structure of Testori Textiles - with its own weaving mill, finishing, laboratory and quality control - every step of the process takes place entirely in Italy. The regional supply chain of a maximum of 90 kilometres significantly reduces the carbon footprint.

The possible uses of the materials range from seats and headrests to curtains and wall and decorative panelling. They offer customisable options in terms of colour, texture and functional properties: they are stainresistant, antibacterial and recyclable.
