E-paper displays: intelligent, sustainable and fit for the future

E-paper displays are an intelligent, sustainable solution for digital communications. Fida SLR’s LMS series merges modern technology with sustainable concepts for urban information management.

The latest generation of outdoor e-paper displays from Italy has been specially developed for use in smart cities. Thanks to the use of advanced electronic ink and reflective display technology, e-paper reproduces the natural appearance of printed paper and remains perfectly legible even in direct sunlight. In contrast to classic LCD and LED displays, e-paper displays only consume energy when the displayed content changes, which makes their operation particularly resource-efficient. They are suitable for use as electronic signage, traffic signs or information displays in retail outlets. The displays are designed for durability. They are not only lightweight and very thin, but also consist of recyclable materials. Their low power consumption and long service life enable companies and local authorities to reduce their ecological footprint without having to compromise on functionality or design. E-paper displays can be found in busy city centres as well as in modern offices and workspaces.

Solar energy and long-life batteries are used for the energy supply, which ensures an easily legible, virtually reflection-free display even in full sunlight, while maintenance requirements are minimised. The systems used are equipped with vandal-proof IK09 glass and are designed for reliable, efficient and sustainable operation.

Another focus is on barrier-free accessibility: the LMS series has an integrated text-to-speech function so that visually impaired users can quickly and intuitively receive information in real time.
