Railway Technology continues to grow: InnoTrans 2026 showcases technologies for Rail Electrification
Electrification, digitalization and alternative propulsion technologies: the Railway Technology segment will be showcasing itself at InnoTrans 2026 as a pioneer in the field of future mobility. The Dialogue Forum will focus on resilience in mobility.

The Railway Technology segment remains at the heart of InnoTrans and will continue on its growth trajectory in 2026. At the anniversary edition of the world’s leading trade fair for Transport Technology, around 60 new Exhibitors will be showcasing their work specifically in the halls along the Funkturm inner ring, focusing on power electronics, at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 22 to 25 September 2026. In total, the segment comprises more than 1,200 exhibitors from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America.
Many exhibits reflect the railway industry’s current development priorities. The focus is on technologies that accelerate the transition to low-emission and digitally connected rail transport. These include high-performance battery systems, smart solutions for energy supply, innovative thermal management systems and robust data infrastructures for reliable and efficient rail operations.
At the same time, modular, safe and low-maintenance system solutions are becoming increasingly important. The emphasis is shifting more and more from visionary concepts towards technologies that can already be used cost-effectively in vehicles and infrastructure today.
Innovations for practical transformation

Climate neutrality, Digitalization and the growing importance of sustainable propulsion technologies are driving innovation at a rapid pace,” says Kerstin Schulz, Director of InnoTrans. “InnoTrans offers international companies the ideal platform to present their innovations to a global audience of industry professionals. At the same time, no other event brings together all areas of the Transport Technology value chain so closely – from component production and vehicle manufacturing to infrastructure operators and transport companies.”
“Alongside the digitalization of rail infrastructure and vehicles, battery-electric Multiple Unit Trains are playing an increasingly important role on non-electrified lines in Europe. International market leaders and new technologies at InnoTrans
Companies in the electrical engineering sector include, amongst others, established manufacturers and technology suppliers from across Europe. GINO AG – Elektrotechnische Fabrik and Medcom from Poland are presenting solutions for the Electrification and power supply of modern Rail Vehicles / Rolling Stock.
The Harting Group, a long-standing exhibitor at InnoTrans and one of the world’s leading suppliers of industrial connection technology, has chosen “Connecting to the fully electric society” as the theme for its exhibition stand. On display will be connection solutions and technologies that support the Electrification and Digitalization of rail transport.
WAGO GmbH is presenting certified Automation and connection technology for rail applications, as well as systems for high-availability Signalling Technology and points control.
The French battery specialist SAFT has announced, under the theme “Powering the Next Era of Rail Innovation”, the launch of its latest generation of lithium-ion batteries for Rail Vehicles / Rolling Stock.
Expert dialogue takes centre stage at the InnoTrans Convention
In addition to the innovations on display, the InnoTrans Convention once again offers a high-calibre programme of specialist events. At the ZVEI’s Dialogue Forum on 24 September from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm at the Palais, industry representatives will discuss the technological and economic challenges of resilient and sustainable mobility under the title ‘Resilience in Motion: Navigating the Challenges of Future Mobility’.
