113 Vehicles from 17 Countries: InnoTrans 2026 Will Be an International Showroom on Rails
The outdoor and track area is one of InnoTrans’s main attractions. In 2026, trade visitors can expect to see 113 vehicles from 17 countries, including South Korea and China. There will be a special focus on alternative propulsion technologies.

From modern high-speed trains to locomotives with alternative propulsion systems and innovative night train concepts: At the outdoor and track exhibition areas of InnoTrans 2026 (September 22–25), manufacturers from around the world will showcase their latest vehicles from the international rail industry. This year, exhibitors from 17 countries will showcase a total of 113 vehicles.
A total of 130 exhibitors are represented on the outdoor and track area, including 30 companies making their debut in this section, which covers a total gross area of approximately 20,000 square meters.
“For many trade visitors, our outdoor and track area is one of the highlights of InnoTrans. Nowhere else can the diversity of the international rail industry be experienced so directly,” says InnoTrans Director Kerstin Schulz: “113 vehicles from 17 countries impressively demonstrate the significance of InnoTrans for the international mobility industry.”
From China and South Korea to InnoTrans in Berlin
Displaying all these vehicles requires complex logistics. The journey is particularly long for exhibits from Asia: The vehicles from China and South Korea were first transported to Europe by ship. Some then continued on to Berlin by inland waterway vessel. Other vehicles are traveling by rail or by road.
With eight models, the Slovak freight car manufacturer TATRAVAGÓNKA is presenting the most vehicles at InnoTrans 2026. The Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail follows with seven vehicles, including a hydrogen-powered narrow-gauge train and a battery-powered regional train. Other manufacturers, such as Siemens Mobility and Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A. (CAF), are also showcasing vehicles with alternative propulsion technologies. CRRC from China is presenting its hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive for the first time, while French industry giant Alstom is showcasing two Traxx locomotives featuring innovative on-board signaling technology.
High Speed from Asia, Autonomy in Public Transit
Speed is the focus of the high-speed trains from Hitachi and Hyundai Rotem. The ETR1000 Frecciarossa and the EMU 320 can reach a top speed of over 300 km/h.
The topic of autonomy in public transit is also becoming increasingly important. Railevo is presenting the world’s first autonomous rail taxi. Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane is showcasing an unmanned vehicle, while TH Ostwestfalen-Lippe has developed Monocab, an autonomous monorail vehicle for rural areas. The Belgian exhibitor Otiv is taking it a step further and will operate a train remotely in the Netherlands as part of a demonstration.
Night Trains Make a Comeback at InnoTrans
Another trend at InnoTrans 2026: the renaissance of night trains. Several companies are showcasing in Berlin what comfortable overnight travel could look like in the future. The focus is on privacy, more efficient use of available space, and new comfort concepts.
Nox Mobility is presenting a prototype that consists exclusively of private compartments for one or two people. Developer Thibault Constant won one of the first awards at the Railway Influencer Festival two years ago – and now he’s returning to Berlin as an exhibitor.
At the Luna Rail Lab, Luna Rail GmbH is showcasing, among other things, two-story seating and reclining areas as well as private cabins for one or two people. Tricon AG, together with several partners—including the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), satek, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and GETA interieur—has designed the ALISA project. The acronym stands for “a differentiated, lightweight, and innovative sleeper car concept.” Mockups of the concept will be presented during InnoTrans in a tent in front of the South Entrance.
“The fact that several new night train concepts are on display at InnoTrans shows just how dynamically this segment is currently developing,” says Kerstin Schulz. “The night train brings together many issues that are important to our industry: sustainable long-distance mobility, new customer expectations, and the question of how to balance comfort and cost-effectiveness. At InnoTrans, our trade visitors can not only discuss these ideas but also experience them firsthand.”
